Year-Round Sunny Weather Makes Barbados a Perfect Place to Play Golf

Barbados is home to many championship golf courses, and some may even say that they are the best courses in the entire Caribbean. The country boasts sunny weather all year, and the combination of good weather and excellent courses makes Barbados the perfect vacation spot for people who love golf. For those who love golf enough to play it every single day, or for those who are just learning how to play, Barbados has golf courses that fit everyone’s needs and skill level. Because of the island’s beauty, great weather and professional-level golf courses, there are numerous professional and non-professional tournaments that take place in Barbados every year. The tournaments draw a large group of participants as well as spectators due to the fact that Barbados is a lovely place to visit. There are several hotels and resorts that offer golf packages, and many of the golf courses offer a pro shop, restaurants, lessons and driving ranges. Each course has its own uniqueness and the cost to play on each course varies. Following is a list of some of the golf courses in Barbados: Rockley Golf Course – This course has nine holes and is a par 70. It’s the oldest golf course on the island, and has some very tough holes! However, the course is designed to be played by people of all skill levels. Barbados Golf Club – This course has 18 holes and is a par 72. The course is open to the public and has a restaurant, pro shop and bar. The course has a partnership with many hotels and offers reduced fees and preferential reservations to individuals staying in those hotels. The course is challenging but can be played by golfers of all skill levels. Royal Westmoreland – This course has 18 holes, and is only open to people who are members. However, it may be possible to play this course in conjunction with a hotel stay at either the Glitter Bay or the Royal Pavilion. Sandy Lane Golf Club – This course has 18 holes and costs between $160-$200 to play. Almond Beach Village – This course has nine holes and is a par 3. The course is relatively easy compared to the other courses in Barbados. Belair Golf Club – This course has nine holes and is a par three, but it is not currently open. Due to the fact that Barbados is a relatively small island, there is a limited amount of space available for golf courses. However, the courses that are present are some of the best in the world, and playing on one of them is a real treat for a vacationer. For the golf lover, a golf vacation package is a great choice. Not only will it provide the opportunity to play on a fantastic course, but a golf package usually includes access to a swimming pool, fitness center and other activities. These additions are great for family members who may not be interested in playing golf. Purchasing a golf vacation package is also very cost-effective. The rate for 18 holes of gold is substantially less when a package is purchased. Many packages also include food, drinks, and transportation to and from the hotel and the golf course.
