Barbados is the perfect location for a romantic, Caribbean wedding. The island is tropical, warm, and a popular tourist destination. It’s easy to get married in Barbados, and very little paperwork is necessary. Also, there are a multitude of wedding planning companies and wedding packages that can be purchased which make a Barbados “destination” wedding (almost) hassle-free. Barbados has over 70 miles of beaches and many make perfect locations for a wedding. The island of Barbados is on the East side of the Caribbean in the Atlantic Ocean. The climate in Barbados is warm and humid, which means that the foliage is lush and green - - a perfect background for a tropical wedding. Getting married in Barbados is easy for non-residents. If an American couple wishes to get married while on a Barbados vacation, either because of a spur-of-the-moment decision or because of a thought-out plan to get married, all that is needed are valid passports. If valid passports are not available, certified copies of birth certificates will also work. If one or both of the people wishing to get married is divorced, official paperwork detailing the Final Judgment of the divorce must be presented and also if one or both of the people is a widow or widower, a death certificate of the respective person’s non-living spouse must be presented in certified form. These pieces of documentation, if applicable, must be presented when the couple applies for a marriage license at the office of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Barbados. Flower Forest – In Barbados’ Flower Forest, there is a perfect spot for a wedding, surrounded by many acres of land covered in tropical flowers. Poolside – Many of the hotels and resorts in Barbados offer locations near their pools that are good for a wedding and a reception immediately following. Submarine – If a unique wedding experience is what is wanted, a marriage under 100 feet of water is available in Barbados. A submarine wedding is an unusual experience but is perfect for a couple who loves the ocean, sea-life, and viewing other underwater life. Helicopter – An unusual location to get married is in a helicopter. If this method is chosen, the bride, groom, and person officiating the ceremony are the only ones who will be able to attend the ceremony. Boat or catamaran – For water-lovers, getting married on a boat or a catamaran is a good choice. A wedding ceremony can be performed on a personal private boat or one that is rented. Depending on the size, a few or many guests may be invited to attend. Churches - Barbados is home to numerous historical churches (in many denominations) that are available for rental. There are many additional locations perfect for a Barbados wedding including on top of a cliff, on the beach, in a villa, and in a garden.
