In the SUV category of vehicles, the higher priced vehicles as far as car insurance is concerned, you could save on gasoline prices thanks to improved fuel efficiency.  The Saturn VUE Green Line Hybrid was created based on the Saturn VUE of 2006.  It features all of the standard sports utility vehicle amenities, and fuel efficiency of 32 miles per gallon over the highway and 27 miles per gallon in the city driving.

The Mercury Mariner Hybrid offers a fun moonroof in addition to improved fuel efficiency and other great features like a roof rack, six-CD changer and satellite radio service.

The 2007 Sedans that are considered fuel efficient cars include the Nissan Altima Hybrid, the Toyota Camry Hybrid and the Honda Accord Hybrid.   The Nissan is only available in select states, including New York, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, California and Vermont. 

The Toyota Camry has an amazing fuel efficiency estimated at 43 miles per gallon in the city and 38 miles per gallon on the highway while the Honda Accord has a V-6 engine and an estimated 28 miles per gallon in teh city and 35 miles per gallon on the highway.

For families wanting to own a luxury vehicle, and yet still benefit from the savings of a fuel efficient car, the Mercedes-Benz E320 BLUETEC (not available in New York or California due to emission laws) uses a clean burning diesel engine and DeNox storage catalytic converter to cut back on the amount of nitrogen-oxide emissions.

The Lexus Hybrid has a nickel-metal hybrid battery that does not need to be plugged in to charge.
