North swedish HorseUsed as a farm workhorse and a heavy draft, the North swedish Horse originated in Sweden. It comes from the same origins as the Dole horse from Norway, which is to descend from the native Scandinavian horse breed. North Swedish Horses are medium in size and coldblood. The mares average 15 hands while the stallions grow a bit bigger to about 15.2 hands. They have large amounts of energy, a long life span, are duable and have stamina. North Swedish horses may be brown or yellowish black, chesnut, palomino, smokhy or grey. Markings are allowed on both their legs and head. The breed actually consists of two different types including the trotter and the draft horse. In some cases, the two types were combine din order to create a fast trotting horse that was light weight for use in racing, and a heavy horse that could hold it's own in competition against the Belgian breed. Compared to the amount of work these horses are capable of, they require very litlte feed. Disease is rare in North Swedish horses. |
