 The best part of working hard and maintaining good grades throughout your school years are the opportunities that come along once you are ready to go to college. Not only will you likely have your choice of several excellent colleges, but college scholarships may be just waiting for you, with your name on them.  There is nothing more satisfying than going to college on money that does not have to be repaid!

 

There are many scholarships all over the country, all of which are dedicated to helping students who excel attend college, whether or not they can afford to pay for the tuition. A scholarship can help any person get into college, no matter their income and the feeling you get from recognition is phenomenal.

 

There are literally thousands of scholarships, it would be downright impossible to list them all. However, regardless of interest, race, religion, or handicap, there is a scholarship out there just for you. There are scholarships specific to schools, as well as scholarships specific to people. There are many scholarships for women, such as the AAUW Educational Foundation or the Talbot's Scholarship Fund. There are also many scholarships for single mothers such as the Women's Opportunity Award or the Raise the Nation Scholarship for Continuing Education. Of course, these are just a few of the scholarship opportunities, but these are some of the best around.

 

 

Everyone should have the opportunity to obtain an education, regardless of gender, religion, race, or ethnicity, which is why so many scholarships exists that are specific for minorities. For example, American Indians can benefit from the American Indian College Fund. African Americans have the opportunity to receive the Ron Brown Scholar Program awards, the United Negro College Fund award, or even the Bill Gates Scholarship.

 

 

If you have a chosen career field in mind, you might be able to benefit from many of the different scholarships for careers. If you are interested in Pharmacy, there is a scholarship available only to pharmacy school students. If you are interested in music or the arts, you can benefit from many scholarships in this area as well.

 

There are so many programs for specific careers. Others include medical, law school, culinary, creative writing, business, science, undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate scholarships.

Businesses like Coca Cola and Kentucky Fried Chicken even offer a variety of college scholarships!  The key to finding scholarships is to do your "homework", and spend the time searching for them.  Talk to the financial department in your school and find out what they can offer.   You can also look online to find many scholarship opportunities, they do exist and you can find them with a little effort.
